What this calculator does

It rolls your orders up per customer (by email address), scores each customer 1 to 5 on recency, frequency and monetary value, and places them in one of 11 groups, from Best Customers to Gone. You also get your repeat purchase rate, your median reorder gap and a downloadable CSV of every customer with their scores.

Want this to update by itself?

A CSV is a snapshot that goes stale the day after you export it. WinBack runs a fuller version of this model inside Shopify, updates it as new orders come in, tunes the risk rules to your store and sends groups to Klaviyo or Mailchimp.

Questions

Is my customer data uploaded anywhere?
No. The calculator reads the CSV with JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else's. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Which file do I need?
The standard orders export from Shopify admin: Orders, Export, All orders, Plain CSV file. The calculator needs the Name, Email, Created at and Total columns, which every Shopify orders export has.
How are the scores calculated?
Recency and spend are scored 1 to 5 by where each customer sits among all your customers (top 20% scores 5). Frequency uses fixed bands because most customers order only once: 1 order scores 1, 2 orders score 3, 3 or 4 score 4, and 5 or more score 5. The three scores then decide the group.
Why is recency measured from the newest order in the file?
So an older export still gives sensible results. If your newest order is from last week, that is the reference date.
Which orders are left out?
Cancelled orders, orders with a refunded, voided, pending or expired payment status, and orders without an email address. Partial refunds are subtracted from the order total.
